31 Oct Máxima season 2 selected for Ibero American Film Festival Miami

Amsterdam, October 31st 2025 – The second season of Máxima has been selected for the Ibero
American Film Festival Miami, where it will open the festival on November 20th by screening the first
episode. This invitation reflects the international interest in the series, which continues to resonate
with audiences far beyond the Netherlands.

While festival premieres are traditionally reserved for debut seasons, the selection of Máxima’s
second season underscores the ongoing relevance of the series on a global stage. The international
distribution is handled by Beta Film, which has successfully sold the first season to more than 70
countries worldwide.

Season two of Máxima will be available to stream on Videoland Original in the Netherlands from
Saturday, March 14, 2026. We follow Máxima’s impressive journey, from the preparations for the
wedding to the coronation ten years later.

Familiar and new faces
Alongside the familiar faces of Delfina Chaves as Máxima, Martijn Lakemeier as Prince Willem
Alexander, Elsie de Brauw as Queen Beatrix and Sebastian Koch as Prince Claus, this season also
introduces several new characters. Among them are Bram Suijker as Prince Friso, Steef de Bot as Prince
Constantijn, Claire Bender as Mabel and Abbey Hoes as Laurentien. The three sisters Julie, Philou and
Nina portray Princesses Amalia, Alexia and Ariane. Jette van der Meij shines as Princess Margriet and
Rifka Lodeizen appears as Noor, Máxima’s new advisor. Princess Juliana and Prince Bernhard will also
be featured, with the casting for these roles to be announced at a later date.

Synopsis season two

For most princesses, the fairy tale ends with a wedding. For Máxima, it was only the beginning. From
her marriage to Willem-Alexander to the coronation ten years later, she seeks to find balance between
love, power and protocol. She soon realizes that keeping the love of the Dutch people is far more
difficult than winning it. As a passionate Argentine, she must find her way between her own ambitions
and the family dynamics of the Royal House. The new season follows Máxima’s journey from mother,
wife, and future queen to a woman who finds her own voice.

Succes of the first season
The first season of Máxima has now been sold to more than 70 countries. The series received
international attention, including a release on Japan’s public broadcaster and a major launch on HBO
Max in Latin America, where it topped the charts for weeks in countries such as Argentina. The series
also achieved high viewership numbers in several European countries, including Spain, Italy and
Denmark. The first season received glowing reviews, making this Videoland Original drama series a
truly unique global hit. The continued international momentum is reflected in the series’ selection
at Miami and the anticipation for the global release of season two.

The second season of the Videoland Original drama series Máxima will be available in the
Netherlands to stream weekly starting Saturday, March 14, 2026. The series is produced by Rachel
van Bommel of Millstreet Films, in co-production with FBO and Beta Film, with support from the
Netherlands Film Fund Production Incentive, the Creative Europe MEDIA program and the Belgian
Tax Shelter. The series is directed by Saskia Diesing and Joosje Duk, and written by Rifka Lodeizen
and Daan Gielis.
