02 Feb WATCH: New trailer for season two of Videoland Original drama series ‘Máxima’
February 2nd 2002. The day the entire world witnessed a modern fairy tale: the “I do” of Máxima and Willem-Alexander in De Nieuwe Kerk. Today, exactly 24 years later, Videoland releases the trailer for the second season of the Videoland Original series ‘Máxima’ to mark this historic date. The new season will be available to stream weekly on Videoland from 14 March.
In this new season of the acclaimed drama series, several new members of the royal family are introduced, including Prince Friso (Bram Suijker), Prince Constantijn (Steef de Bot), Mabel (Claire Bender) and Laurentien (Abbey Hoes). Princesses Amalia, Alexia and Ariane (Julie, Philou and Nina) also make their appearance, as do Princess Juliana (Leny Breederveld) and Prince Bernhard (Rüdiger Vogler).
From wedding to coronation
For most princesses, the fairy tale ends with a wedding. For Máxima, it was only the beginning. From her marriage to Willem-Alexander to the coronation ten years later, she seeks to find balance between love, power and protocol. She soon realizes that keeping the love of the Dutch people is far more difficult than winning it. As a passionate Argentine, she must find her way between her own ambitions and the family dynamics of the Royal House. The new season follows Máxima’s journey from mother, wife, and future queen to a woman who finds her own voice.
The second season of the Videoland Original drama series ‘Máxima’ will be available in the Netherlands to stream weekly starting Saturday, March 14, 2026. The series is produced by Rachel van Bommel of Millstreet Films, in co-production with FBO and Beta Film, with support from the Netherlands Film Fund Production Incentive, Fisa+, Film in Austria (ABA), the Creative Europe MEDIA program and the Belgian Tax Shelter. The series is directed by Saskia Diesing and Joosje Duk, and written by Rifka Lodeizen and Daan Gielis. The drama series ‘Máxima’ has been sold to more than 80 countries, including new territories such as France, South Korea, and the Middle East.
Royal stories on Videoland
In addition to the Videoland Original drama series ‘Máxima’, Videoland offers a growing selection of royal stories. Previously released Videoland Original documentaries ‘Prince Bernhard’ and ‘Beatrix’, produced by SimpelZodiak, captivated audiences with unique archival footage and remarkable contributors. Today, the Videoland Original documentary ‘Willem-Alexander & Máxima’ has been added to this selection.
Dutch drama on Videoland
Videoland is the number one local streaming platform in the Netherlands. The new season of ‘Máxima’ will be available to stream from March 14th, alongside more than 45 other Videoland Original drama productions, including ‘Mocro Maffia’, ‘Sleepers’, ‘Tonnano’, ‘Gooische Vrouwen’, ‘Eén Grote Familie’, ‘De Fckulteit*’, ‘Moedermaffia!’ and ‘Bennie’. Currently, titles such as ‘BASTA’ and ‘Kees Flodder’ are in production.
