The tear at the wedding, the births of the princesses, the attack in Apeldoorn, Prince
Friso’s skiing accident, and Queen Beatrix’s abdication. These are moments etched into
the collective memory, historic events that will return in the second season of the
Videoland Original drama series ‘Máxima’.
The new season follows Máxima from the preparations for the much-discussed wedding
to the coronation ten years later. As the love between Máxima and Willem-Alexander
blossoms in their fairytale yet complex love story, pressure also mounts from royal
traditions, political tensions, and a critical outside world.
The long-awaited second season of the acclaimed drama series Máxima will be available
to stream on Videoland from March 14th.
Alongside the familiar faces of Delfina Chaves as Máxima, Martijn Lakemeier as Prince
Willem Alexander, Elsie de Brauw as Queen Beatrix, Sebastian Koch as Prince Claus and
Jacob Derwig as Thomas Wagenaar, several new characters are introduced this season.
Among them are Bram Suijker as Prince Friso, Steef de Bot as Prince Constantijn, Claire
Bender as Mabel and Abbey Hoes as Laurentien. The three sisters Julie, Philou and Nina
portray Princesses Amalia, Alexia and Ariane. Jette van der Meij shines as Princess
Margriet and Rifka Lodeizen appears as Noor, Máxima’s new advisor. In addition, Leny
Breederveld takes on the role of Princess Juliana, and Rüdiger Vogler portrays Prince
Bernhard. The trailer also marks the first appearance of Jan-Paul Buijs as Jan Peter
Balkenende.
Synopsis season two
For most princesses, the fairy tale ends with a wedding. For Máxima, it was only the
beginning. From her marriage to Willem-Alexander to the coronation ten years later, she
seeks to find balance between love, power and protocol. She soon realizes that keeping
the love of the Dutch people is far more difficult than winning it. As a passionate
Argentine, she must find her way between her own ambitions and the family dynamics of
the Royal House. The new season follows Máxima’s journey from mother, wife, and
future queen to a woman who finds her own voice.
The second season of the Videoland Original drama series Máxima will be available
in the Netherlands to stream weekly starting Saturday, March 14, 2026. The series is
produced by Rachel van Bommel of Millstreet Films, in co-production with FBO and
Beta Film, with support from the Netherlands Film Fund Production Incentive,
Fisa+, Film in Austria (ABA), the Creative Europe MEDIA program and the Belgian Tax
Shelter. The series is directed by Saskia Diesing and Joosje Duk, and written by
Rifka Lodeizen and Daan Gielis. The first season of ‘Máxima’ has now been sold to
more than 70 countries.
Dutch drama on Videoland
Videoland is the number one local streaming platform in the Netherlands. The new
season of ‘Máxima’ will be available to stream from March 14th, alongside more than 45
other Videoland Original drama productions, including ‘Mocro Maffia’, ‘Sleepers’,
‘Tonnano’, ‘Gooische Vrouwen’, ‘Eén Grote Familie’, ‘De Fckulteit*’, ‘Moedermaffia!’ and
‘Bennie’. Currently, titles such as ‘BASTA’ and ‘Kees Flodder’ are in production.
